School

This week I will start going to school everyday all day. I go to a bilingual school so most of my classes are German but I also have some in French which is really exciting for me! I have found a nice group of friends and they are all so kind and accepting. I meet new people on the bus/train/tram every day but sometimes it is hard to maintain the friendships because of the language barrier. Switzerland is a very hard place to learn German because there is a different dialect of Swiss German in every canton. I am learning high German and people in Switzerland speak Swiss German (they are so different it's literally a whole new language) AND on top of that in different regions and cities they have their own dialect of Swiss German! I am very excited to be able to understand and speak high German and hopefully Swiss German as well! Every week day I wake up and eat breakfast with my host family at 6:40am. I have to bike to the neighbouring town to catch the bus at 7:20am, then the bus takes me to the train station to get to school which starts at 8:05am. My classes end at different times every day, my longest school day goes until 5:30pm and my shortest ends at 12:15pm. My classes this semester are: German, gym, geography, visual arts , history, math, biology, chemistry, physics, photography and religion which are all in German and then I have English and French. My class went on a field trip to Bern for the day and we had a barbecue. I have made some really nice friends in my school and I am so happy to have them!
