Temporary host family

My host parents went on ski holidays for a week so I got to stay with my best friends family who happen to be my YEO and counsellor. We went bowling, played games, went for walks, out for dinner, my friend and I went bike riding to watch the sunset and it was fun! :) I ended up having a fourth host family after all!

Snowshoeing

I haven’t gone snowshoeing often but I had the best snowshoeing experience of my life! My host parents and a group of friends do this snowshoeing excursion every year the night of a full moon. We met at 5 at the bottom of Schwarzsee and then started hiking up the mountain. It took us a little over 2 hours to get to the restaurant at the top where we ate fondue. The restaurant is only open the nights of full moon. It wasn’t until 11 or so that we started heading back down. It was so cool because on our way down we didn’t even need headlights, the moon was just so bright.

Free things at Bahnhof

Every once and a while there are people giving out free things at Bahnhof (the train station). So far I have gotten croissants, laundry detergent, apples, coffee, chocolate and flowers, I’m sure there is more but I just don't remember. This time I got flowers!! I cheated the system a bit and went to every group to get flowers and when I met with my friend Kirill from Russia I also made him to a round to get me flowers so I ended up going home with a lot of flowers :)

Basler Fastnacht

Fastnacht in Basel is one of the biggest in all of Switzerland. I stayed at my friends house in Basel because i wouldn’t have been able to get there on time otherwise. It started at 4am on Monday morning with a light parade which was 4 hours long. After that was another parade with crazy costumes and music and food and a lot of people! The weather was not the best so I didn’t stay very long because my umbrella was already so wet that it wasn’t waterproof anymore.
