St. Moritz

I got an amazing opportunity to go watch the Skiing World Championships in St. Moritz. My host dad and I got up at 2:30am and took a bus for five hours to Saint Moretz where in the world championships were taking place. It was a beautiful day! It was pretty wild and the energy was intense. Unfortunately Canada and Switzerland didn't do very well but it was still a cool experience!

Cheese and chocolate factory

What to do on a bad weathered weekend? Visit chocolate and cheese factories! One rainy weekend my host fam decided not to go skiing but instead show me a bit of what Switzerland is really about. We went to the Cailler chocolate factory and the Greyerzer cheese factory. There I got to see how everything is made and stored. I was mesmerized by the way cheese was made. I even tried whey (not my favourite thing... I would rather bathe in it). In all honesty my favourite part was the free taste testing of all the different cheese and chocolates!

Skiing

I'm not sure how I'm going to be able to ski on Laurentian Hill after this year of skiing in the mountains. As I mentioned before my host family has an apartment in Zermatt where they go skiing every good weathered weekend and when it's not so nice we go somewhere closer to Fribourg. With the Fasel's I have skied in Schwarzsee which is a local "small mountain" which for me was big, Portes du Soleil which was very nice and I have skied there previously with the Glauser's, my last host family and then obviously Zermatt. The weather has been awesome I would say it's more hot than it is cold for skiing but I'm not complaining. The views take my breath away and I love the snow conditions!

Learning to cook

My cooking skills went from microwaveable oatmeal to homemade curry and soup!! My host dad and I have been cooking some pretty mean meals together. The first thing we made was "alpine mac and cheese". The second was something along the lines of an apple chickpea curry. We marinated the meat the night before and then did the rest the next morning. It was super good in my opinion and I was excited that I didn't burn anything!! The third thing we made was a soup which was also very lächa
